What gets you up in the morning? What drives you at work? Let me give you a few options:
* A paycheck?
* A promotion?
* To impress others or your boss?
If that’s all that’s driving you then you’re a transactional leader. You are motivated by the promise of a reward (paycheck) in exchange for your performance. You may think this kind of leadership will get you somewhere but what you don’t know is that people who lead like this or respond to leaders with this disposition are really status quo kinds of people.
The better option is to be a transformational leader. This type of leader engages others in such a way to raise their levels of motivation, morality and productivity. As a transformational leader you are more of a change agent bettering those around you.
If you have this mindset then you are like Jesus Christ than you think. He called men to follow him not to get something from them but to invest his life in them making them better husbands, fathers, leaders, and ultimately leaving the ministry he began with them.
Never underestimate the potential of your employees! With you guidance, encouragement and example they can and will produce much more than you could possibly imagine.
Let me leave you with Jesus’ words that reinforces his transformational leadership. “I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.” (John 13:15 NLT)
Let’s be Jesus kinds of leaders!
