The influence of Jesus Christ is still being felt after 2000 years! Ever asked why? Books by the dozens have been written expounding various authors ideas as to why His leadership was so impactful. They search for Jesus leadership secrets like they were searching for the holy grail. The Bible as their roadmap they often end up identifying their findings in academic ideas missing the meaning all together.
It was not our Lord’s desire to make leadership so hard and his ability to inspire and motivate beyond reach. In fact, we are given a glimpse of his leadership savvy in the book of Acts…

“God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this. Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today.”

Acts of the Apostles 2:32-33 NLT

Please focus on the words, “the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us,” for here lies the fundamental source of our Messiah’s leadership. Jesus impactful leadership was the result of yielding his life to the Holy Spirit and receiving his wisdom and guidance. He could do nothing by himself, his trust and dependance rested in the Spirit’s empowerment.

If that was true of Jesus then can it be any different for us? The Holy Spirit was promised and given so we could continue the leadership model of Jesus and enjoy similar outcomes. In Romans chapter twelve Paul writes of one of the gifts the Spirit gives is leadership. Want to be a better leadership? Then get to know and yield yourself to the Holy Spirit and allow him to do for you what he did for Jesus.

The Bible was never intended to be a recipe book of “how-to’s” for good leadership. It was written to remind us that without Jesus and the Holy Spirit he gave to his disciples we can do nothing, including being a good leader.
